Here’s a quick round-up of stories because I am already behind in schoolwork and it’s only been the first week. Crap.

  • The UC Regents are telling university execs to “simmah down nah!” The executives can no longer serve on more than three boards for profit-corporations. Looks like the system is really trying to clean itself up. [SF Chronicle]
  • The Board of Regents has also decided not to do something about funding for research from tobacco companies. I mean, they’re not doing nothing. They’re going to talk about a possible ban. Swiftly and in a timely manner. By which I mean in about 5 months. [SF Chronicle]
  • Nothing can stop the Save the Oaks people. Their stuff got seized by the cops, a few have been cited for trespassing, but I swear to God there are more of them living in the trees. And the ground crew is up and running again. [My Own Sweet Observation]
  • It’s time to rush! Not for that Greek house, but for Cal Performances. Students, an hour or less before a show, can get $10 rush tickets to see the amazing acts at Zellerbach. It’s not available for all shows, but it’s an amazing deal nonetheless. [Berkeley NewsCenter]
  • Vagina, vagina, vaginas are coming! The Vagina Monologues will be showing the nights of February 9th, 10th, and 11th at 8 p.m. Tickets ($10 each) go on sale on Sproul this Monday. They will sell out possibly within the week. Don’t miss your chance to donate to some deserving charities and to really impress your lady friends.[Facebook]
