Another Golden Bear Throws Hat In Local Political Ring
The Daily Cal is reporting that Cal alum Andy Katz, who lost a very competitive three-person race in 2002 to Gordon Wozniak in District 8, is now attempting a run for a position on the EBMUD Board of Directors.
Andy Katz, 26, announced his plans earlier this month to take out filing papers for the regional water board, which provides running water and sewage services to 1.3 million people in the East Bay.
If elected, Katz will be one of seven board members governing the 325- square mile water district. The ward Katz would serve includes Berkeley, Albany, Emeryville, Kensington, El Cerrito and part of Oakland.
Eh, I know it’s the utility board, but it’s still very important to get recent alumni involved in local government. It improves town-gown relations and has the potential to make student life that much more viable in the East Bay.
