Daily Cal Publishes Anti-Treesitter Opinion Piece

Today’s Off Base column tactfully addressed the recent injunction against the stadium construction efforts. At the very least, it looks like the CalStuff term “Berkeley Ewoks” may have some staying power. My favorite part of the column:

You’ve never seen real injustice, and you’ve never really felt real hunger, searing pain, deathly thirst or anything that people—yes, people, not plants—have felt and continue to feel around the world while you sit in your tree houses (made from wood, mind you).

Before you go thinking you’ve won, look around you. You wasted your time on trees, trees that are most likely going to be cut down anyway.

And that little injunction? It was for seismic safety reasons—for people. So people could be safe. Not trees. Great job, you crusaders for truth and justice. You rule.

  1. Um, Ben, Ryan Gorcey, who wrote the Daily CAL opinion piece is your frat brother and BFF. Him using your ewok phrase and then you quoting his OpEd piece is almost like public mutual mast… well, you know

  2. That was a shitty piece and it made the author seem like a douchebag.

  3. Though some points are valid. . . but yeah, I agree with Anonymous #2.

  4. “In issuing a preliminary injunction, Alameda County Superior Court Judge Barbara Miller said opponents’ environmental and seismic-related challenges were strong enough to justify a preliminary injunction until a trial can be held.”

Since this quote was used in this very blog, maybe Gorcey didn’t read it after all…
