Unbelievable what crap the University has to deal with.

Treehuggers: get the hell out of Berkeley. Move to Richmond or something.

Part of the proposed development was the earthquake retrofitting for the stadium, which actually stands on the Hayward fault. By granting the injunction, the judge put those plans on indefinite hold.

According to the SF Chronicle,

"The fault traces were a major issue in last week's injunction hearing. Geologic tests showed no traces under most of the proposed training center, but two of the tests were inconclusive because the ground contains a lot of fill. The judge said that because of the inconclusive tests, UC could not definitely say the structure would not be on a fault."

Also from the Chronicle:

"Neighbors on Panoramic Hill also were worried about safety. In the event of an earthquake or fire during a football game, they fear they would be cut off from rescue personnel."

What are the odds that will ever happen? Good for Cal's administration for going ahead with the parts of their plan that aren't impacted by the ruling. And shame on that judge for listening to tree-huggers and a few others whose special interests are transparent.
