New CalTV Launch

CalTV — Berkeley’s online TV “station” — has recently launched three new shows on current campus happenings. Structured like studio news, the so-called “CalTV Show” features a straight sit-and-deliver type of news. Each segment is about three and a half minutes long.

So far the shows are nothing out of this world, but there’s potential. With less use of jump-cuts and more comfort in front of the camera, the CalTV Show could be quite a hit. It would help (in terms of editing a straight studio segment and with capturing the audience) to include field stories wihin the show. Not to mention, CalTV really needs a prompter. Memorizing stories and reading them from a paper is so tedious and distracts from the quality of the reporting.

Look out for Rosa — that girl’s such a character. (Moujan doesn’t look half-bad either.)
