The very idea of it is an improvement over the welcoming that Spring Admits get now. Having welcome week events when all students definitely must have returned to Berkeley at least gives the opportunity for large turnouts at programs and events, as we see in the Fall.

If it were me, I'd wait until I actually saw whether massive crowds and social atmosphere show up before declaring it an improvement.

Spring Admits do just as well here as any other student.

And the res halls DO put on a Spring welcome week, but it is not as grandiose as the one ASUC is planning. Also, events in the res halls during Spring welcome week will not see the massive crowds and social atmosphere as Fall welcome week does, but this new ASUC one likely will. That's improvement.

Berkeley shouldn't take spring admits. It's just a backdoor.

Great. The ASUC is spending its time and resources doing something the university already does so a couple of people can put their names all over campus. Whoopdiedoo.

Spring Welcome Week has always been a lackluster introduction to Cal for many incoming students because virtually no returning students come back to Berkeley until the Sunday before school starts. Having these welcome week activities on the week following the official welcome week is a great idea, as the events will draw in bigger crowds and allow for that crucial social atmosphere.
