Not Surprising: Hippies in the Trees

So the Save the Oaks people have set up camp among their beloved oaks. Walking by this Sunday morning and later this afternoon, I noticed about fifteen people hanging out, though not all of them had been there the entire day. They are doing hippie things: strumming an acoustic guitar, talking about trees, and sitting on their duffs.

Quite frankly, they kinda disturb me. I live right by the stadium and those trees. Seeing people gathering in that area is just plain creepy. But, eh, I like what they’ve done with the place. The yellow cautionary tape brings in a nice touch of school spirit.

EDIT: Now, on Monday, there are six different news vans parked alongside the oaks area. Must be a pretty slow newsday to spend a few hours videotaping people sitting in trees.

  2. Well, the Regents voted to support the stadium project, which means sooner or later the police will be forced to pull the protestors out of the tree.

  3. They should hire a new artist while they’re at it
