Cal Water Polo Running The Table

For those of you who are unaware, Cal has other sports besides basketball and football (I’m a rugby fan myself).

Today, CalStuff turns its focus to men’s water polo, where the Golden Bears are ranked #1 in the country, have started the season 7-0, and just blew away #7 UC Davis by a score of 19-4 after scoring six unanswered points in the first period.

This program has had a great recovery since losing a suspended teammate to a drug overdose two years ago.

The Golden Bears’ next water polo home game is on September 30, when they play a scrimmage againstTeam USA (I’m not kidding!).

  1. Are you serious? playing against Team USA…

I really wish our football team was number #1 like our Water Polo Team…

  2. Recovery?

From what? The dead guy wasn’t even an active player when he overdosed. He had long before then made himself useless to the team with his drugging.

There was no recovery necessary for the team. And while it’s nice of you to feature something other than football, why bring that up and make it a significant part of your story?

  3. what Ben probably means is the recovery since the dark days of 1951 when one teammember stubbed his toe walking out to the pool.
