Three arrests have now been made in the Cloyne Court Massacre of 2006. From the UC Berkeley Newscenter:

Based on interviews with the students, campus police executed search warrants that led to the arrest of the three individuals: Michael Tobias, 24, a UC Berkeley student, on suspicion of furnishing marijuana and possession of marijuana for sale; Carmen Anderson, 21, also a UC Berkeley student, for possession of more than an ounce of marijuana and possession of psilocybin (hallucinogenic mushrooms); and Christopher Portka , 23, for possession of more than an ounce of marijuana and possession of psilocybin.

Of the three individuals, Anderson is believed to be the only one who lives in Cloyne Court. In addition to the criminal case, the students arrested could face code of conduct charges for violation of campus policies…

If these people gave drugged/laced cookies to unexpecting people, then they deserve to be arrested. I do, however, have some suspicions as to how UCPD came across the information needed for these arrests. It wouldn’t be unheard of for them to start knocking on doors and giving ultimatums to other residents at the co-op. Hopefully, this isn’t the case, but I certainly can’t be optomistic.

  1. “unexpecting people”: The sign in front of the cookies describing them as such would be fair warning, I think. Though Cloyne’s baked goods do have a reputation for being a bit on the strong side.

  2. did the brownies also have oxycontin in them? or was the oxycontin possession unrelated to the people getting sick?

  3. The Mushrooms and OxyContin were found in a room. There is no evidence or indication that they were in the cookies. Nor is there any conceivable motivation in doing so. The people who made them aren’t sadists.
