For those of you that feel the title of this post is in bad taste, I will simply say - I wasn’t first, so you can’t blame me.

In the good news department, Cal is finally getting some decent press from heavily East Coast biased ESPN. Heisman hopeful Marshawn Lynch has a profile story by Ivan Maisel, a writer well aware of the Pac-10 from his former days at another Northern California junior college. Additionally, Cal has received a #9 preseason ranking from the Associated Press, one of four Pac-10 teams to be ranked going into this season.

In the bad news department, Cal’s touted defense hit a major speed bump Thursday when senior cornerback Tim Mixon tore the ACL in his right knee. Mixon will miss the entirety of his senior season at Berkeley, a hard luck knock very reminiscient of former fan favorite Chase Lyman.

In the gambling gaming news department, CalStuff’s Pick ‘Em League now has 15 members, making it eligible for prizes! Spaces are still available, so come sign up!
