ASUC Update
Almost two full weeks after the Ratto v. Vakil appeal hearing, the ASUC Judicial Council has yet to issue its decision. While this seems like a long time, it really is not too far out of reasonable expectation. Past Judicial Council members have asserted that you simply have to multiply everything by two.
For example:
A 10-page charge sheet = A 20-page decision = 15 hours of writing and revising
An 8-hour hearing = 16 hours of deliberation
So, there needs to be at least 32 hours of work to go into this decision. And, when you take into account that many of the Judicial Council members are working 8 hours a day, then…
two weeks x (3 weekdays @ two hours of work/day + weekend @ 10 hours/2 days) = 32 hours
So, potentially, a decision could be forthcoming soon, but I hope no one has been holding their breath.
In the meantime, the video from Tuesday’s city council meeting is available here, for anyone who is interested in watching it. The Contra Costa Times and Berkeley Daily Planet have their coverage as well.

As a heads-up, Student Action won their appeal on double jeopardy, in a 4-2 split.
