City Council Meeting Drinking Game

Tonight at 6:30 the Berkeley city council is going to vote on Action Item 42.

I encourage you to come to the meeting but if you can’t make it you can watch the live webcast here.

Although the situation is already pretty funny, to make the hearing even more entertaining I have created the Berkeley City Council Drinking game.

Rules:

Anytime someone at the meeting speaks who is visibly intoxicated take a drink.

Anytime the words “free” and “fair” are used in the same sentence take a drink and laugh audibly.

Anytime someone refers to Suken or Vishal as a female take a drink (two drinks if the gender of anyone else is confused)

Anytime someone mispronounces the name Wozniak take two drinks.

Anytime someone mentions the word “chalking” take a drink and proceed to write “Vote for (your name here)” within 100 feet of the city council meeting.

Set up a chair in the middle of the room. This will be the “party chair”. When the name Suken is spoken, someone new must sit in the chair. If the title “party chair” is mentioned, the person sitting in the “party chair” must chug their drink.

Everytime someone says the name Narodick, make a joke about a thin penis and laugh to yourself. No drinking is neccessary.

Everytime you see a shot of Oren Gabriel’s parents, drink alone and cry because you know your parents would never come up to support you.

If a citycouncil member stands up and yells, “This is ridiculous! It’s a fucking student government election! I don’t give a shit!” have a victory sip because they just said what you were thinking.

If you’re watching the webcast, everytime you take a break to look at porn chug a beer.

If you’re at the meeting, everytime you daydream about one of the council members naked chug a beer. Also, I think that 65 year old woman at the far end of the table is single.

Everytime the name “Andy Ratto” is mentioned, take 2 sips and sue an organization you no longer belong to or have any interest in.

If the item passes mourn the loss of student autonomy forever by downing a 40.

If the item doesn’t pass, take the rest of your drinks over to the California State Legistlature to watch Student Action try to pass a bill there.

Once again, I hope you all show up at the meeting tommorow. And I encourage everyone who reads this to post your own rules to make tommorow as exciting as possible.

  1. If a citycouncil member stands up and yells, “This is ridiculous! It’s a fucking student government election! I don’t give a shit!” have a victory sip because they just said what you were thinking.

Two victory sips if it’s Spring.

  2. Dammit, you had to make your first post funny.

Challenge, lets see who can last at the drinking game longer.

    Another rule:
Everytime Wasserman tries to hand out a poster, take a drink.

  3. Anytime someone at the meeting speaks who is visibly intoxicated take a drink.

I don’t appreciate you making rules specifically about me, sir. :P

  4. I won’t be there, but rest assured I will be playing along at home.

Ksex, if they really wanted to make a rule about you, it would probably go something like “Everytime someone does/says something completely unrelated to what’s going on, take a drink and yell “It’s ok, she always does that!”

Oh and I accept the challenge regarding who will last the longest, and I believe it will be me.

  5. Ohh, its on now. And Morris better participate. And bring the drinks, I’ve got work beforehand.

And addendum to the previous rule:
If Wasserman hands out posters bitterly, take 2 drinks.

  10. Can we play with turpentine? Or, as we called it back in Korea, “love juice.”

  11. any word on when the j-council decision on the appeal is coming out?

    Comment by apathetic — July 25, 2006 @ 2:03 pm

  12. Teh Future!!!

    Comment by Beetle — July 25, 2006 @ 2:11 pm

  13. Obviously the j-council gives like crap about the executives or the overall asuc when it takes them so long to come out with such inportant decissions. First of all, they take their time to schedule a trial and see no urgency, then they cant come out with their decission in a timely fashion.

I hope both SA and non-sa people agree that if the j-council would act in a much more timely fashion, then this dispute would be settled sooner. Maybe they should also be a focus of criticism.

  14. Well it could also be that they’re taking this situation seroiusly and using all the time available to weigh everything… maybe

  15. I won’t be voting for Gordon in the next election. This is f*cking ridiculous. If you’re reading this Wozniak, know that you just lost my vote. I’m voting for Overman. And donating a crapload of my copious cash to him too!!!!11

  16. The reason the trial was scheduled for so late wasn’t because of the Council, it was because SA kept complaining about the fact that four Justices sat in the original case (despite this meeting quorum). The additional two Justices that sat in the appeal had to FLY in from LA and DC. The Council did their best to accomodate SA’s request — don’t be such a dick.

    Comment by bobby gregg — July 25, 2006 @ 5:03 pm

  17. Actually me theory is that the jcouncil is waiting for SA to exhaust every form of government possible (getting slapped down each time) and then they’ll give their ruling.

Some more avenues for SA to sue:
    California Legislature
    US Congress
Writ of Mandamus to the US Supreme Court
    The Iraqi Government
    Kim Jong Il

  18. while I agree that it has taken a long time for the jcouncil to make decisions, and the appeal trial could have been scheduled earlier, at least give them credit that “all” the members did come, some flying in that day. They didnt have to do that and it must have been inconvenient

    Comment by jack bauer — July 25, 2006 @ 7:56 pm

  22. i agree w/ Jack, if you look past his pronounciation, no one doubts that he is extremely qualified for eavp, if he ends up getting the position
