Happy New Year, CalStuffers!

2006 seems like it’s going to be an interesting year for Berkeley, and CalStuff is going to be there to cover it. I, however, will not be bringing it to you on this blog.

After a series of migraine attacks, health issues, and meditation, I’ve decided to take a sabbatical from CalStuff. Andy and Allen should still be here posting, and I may even drop in from time to time. I’m also going to be looking for a more ambitious poster to take a spot on the CalStuff team.

I’ll still float around on some comment strings – I can’t let you all fuck them up too much – so I’ll see you around, and hope next year is a good one for you.

  1. Eek. Migraine attacks are hell. If you keep getting them, I hope you find a good neuro.

  8. None of them are in the in-group. They should recruit some gossips who are in hub positions as opposed to spokes who hear about Berkeley things from the newspaper or google.

  10. I’ve never even heard of Cooper before. Who is he? He never posts anything. And Alan hasn’t been doing as much either.

  14. more updates from the hearing

She said a tall player — identified by authorities as starting tight end David Gray — called her “a Chewbacca-looking-ass bitch,” a reference to a character from the film “Star Wars”; that statement angered Willis-Starbuck. Johnson said the players were “half-apologizing” during the argument that followed. The feud escalated when the players directed their attention to three white women in the group and grabbed one of them by the arm. “Bitch, we like white girls. We want to kick it with you,” Johnson quoted the tall player as saying. She and Willis-Starbuck are black.

I think that one speaks for itself. I’ll refrain from commenting on David Gray’s preferences.

Johnson also testified that she had seen Hollis — whom she knew by the nickname “C4,” a reference to a type of military explosive — remove a gun from a drawer at Willis-Starbuck’s apartment a few weeks before the shooting. That prompted Willis-Starbuck to lecture Hollis on the dangers of guns, she said.

I don’t know what to make of this. Either “C4″ had hidden a weapon in Willis-Starbuck’s apartment without her knowledge, or Johnson is spinning away on the stand.

  15. well, it sounds like the article already implicates the football players a bit more than most of you commentmakers have acknowledged, no?
