Cal Gives ‘Em The Axe - Cuts Cardinal Down, 27-3
Tens of thousands of California fans treked across the Bay to watch the 108th Big Game - and didn’t leave disappointed. The Golden Bears dominated the Cardinal in every sense, winning by a margin of 27-3.

I got back maybe 30 minutes ago, and I’m exhausted. But, for your viewing pleasure, some statistics on the Big Game from the SF Chronicle:
Best start by a Cal coach against Stanford:
1. Andy Smith (1918-23) 6-0
2. Jeff Tedford (2002-05) 4-0
3. Pappy Waldorf (1947-54) 6-0-2
Worst home defeats for Stanford in the Big Game:
1921: Cal, 42-7
1975: Cal, 48-15
1993: Cal, 46-17
1922: Cal, 28-0
2005: Cal, 27-3
1,741: Points scored by Cal in 108 Big Games
1,728: Points scored by Stanford in 108 Big Games
226: Cal rushing yards
16: Stanford rushing yards
9: Number of Bear sacks of Cardinal QBs
This victory clinches a bowl berth for the Golden Bears. To the best of my knowledge, the two most likely scenarios are:
Sun Bowl - Only if Oregon gets an at-large bid to a BCS bowl. The game is in El Paso on Dec. 30, and our most likely opponent would be Michigan.
Insight Bowl - The alternative if Oregon stays out of the BCS. The game is in Phoenix on Dec. 27, and our most likely opponent would be Rutgers.

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRGH.
phew. tired, dazed and still figuring out how Fresno State managed to almost-spank $c, but all I can say is:
Go Levy, Go Marshawn, Go Defense, and Go bears.
p.s Does anyone know where the starting quarterback for stanfurd ended up? I heard he was tackled by Mebane and developed a ‘neck injury’

The last time they showed him on TV, he was standing at the sidelines idly clutching his left arm with his right hand as he watched us pound his team into the turf.

God, I love it. The disappointed faces of Stanford students. Wonderful.
