Cal Dining Going High-Tech. Next Improvement: Bringing the Food to an Edible Level

In a somewhat cool move, Cal Dining will now be allowing students to purchase food with points via a website. From the Daily Cal:

With the launch of Cal Dining’s online bulk grocery shopping service next month, students with meal plans will be able to purchase their groceries with the click of a mouse.

Students will be able to place orders online through the Cal Dining Web site on Tuesdays and pick up their food on Saturday at the dining commons nearest to them, paying for the food with the points on their meal cards.

I think this is a pretty decent improvement. It dissipates the weekend rush to spend points, and allows for merchandise to be moved in an easier manner. Between this and the pizza delivery service, having a meal plan is getting to the point where it might be close to worth while.

  4. I have a meal plan, and I’m loving the new (to me) Crossroads DC. Unit 3 DC, or DC3 whatever they call it these days, also has a nostalgic charm, but it’s gotten much more streamlined since the old days.

But I’m easy to please … I came back to Berkeley for the food!

  5. Holy Jesus every place in the sphere of influence of Cal Dining is disgusting. I got food poisoning there before and had to skip my classes for a day. Pay attention to how they make chow mein.

Why do you have a meal plan, you’re an alum.

  7. Still, grad student, alum, undergrad… Cal Dining is the nastiest shit excuse for food. Even cooking on my own is better than Cal Dining and I can barely make chicken cook all the way through.

  8. Well I’m still alive. :-)
