CalTV launch

So after years and years of struggling, the CalTV project appears to be underway. Rather than use the more traditional, but expensive and time-consuming over-the-air-broadcast or cable access, it’s now launched as a simplier video blog or vlog. So far on the site are only blurry clips of the CalTV crew asking a question of the day on Sproul such as “Will this housing bubble burst?” and “what they thought the future of news is going to be”. It’s still early, so I’m hoping to see more a variety of clips like short bits of student life from a pep rally to an acapella concert (and of course, the occasional protest). If they do that, I’ll be tuning in.

  2. As articulate as he is, Smash is right. At pretty much any other major university I’ve been to, students run co-op bookstores (where they refund part of your costs!), foodstuffs, student unions, and a regular schedule of events the average student actually knows about.

What’s different with our system that makes it work at nothing?

  3. This was Kris Primm’s ONLY campaign promise more than 2 years ago, a promsie that gor him elected by a landslide. This has also been proposed over the last few years with senate hopefuls. Some other awesome campaign promises year after year include off-campus swipes, saving 642-WALK, “ASUC accountability”, caring about you, removing Ward Connerly from the regents, no more flyering on Sproul Hall.

For any senator wishing to run for office, have your most important issue “saving” something not likely to be abolished. You can say you fulfilled your campaign promises without doing anything!

Props to anyone who can name who William Hung voted for in the senate before his rise to fame.

  9. Berkeley’s a little safer today than it was yesterday — the ghetto thug that killed Meleia Starbuck-Willis was apprehended in Fresno.

I wonder how many local leftists helped him evade arrest? I wonder if we’ll finally get answers about whether she called for a weapon? I wonder if he’ll refute jonp’s inane theory that she was struck by a warning shot?
