Bears sting Hornets, lose starting QB
As expected, the Bears beat Sacramento State 41-3 in the opener at Memorial Stadium this past weekend behind the excellent play of running back Marshawn Lynch and freshman WR DeSean Jackson. The team also moves up the rankings in both polls from #19 to #16 in the AP and #17 in the U.S.A. Today.
The win was by no means a clean one. QB Nate Longshore, who had beat out Joe Ayoob for the starting job, broke his leg before the end of the first half and is likely out for the season. Ayoob was placed in the game and did not complete a pass in 10 attempts, before being pulled for Steve Levy, who played fullback last season. Ayoob will get another chance to prove himself as he will be the starter for the next game at Washington this Saturday.
