Versus #3 Cal Football vs. Standford Football
The SF Business Times has an interesting comparison of the stadium and marketing plans for Cal and Stanford. The good news for us:
- We’re moving forward with plans to renovate the stadium (although not nearly as quickly as Stanfurd), and a newly refurbished stadium will be an easy way to attract more fans. Also, it will be nicer than our current unstable death-trap which is supposed to catastrophically collapse (slight exaggeration) if there is an earthquake.
- We’re expected to sell a record number of season tickets this year (40,000!).
- Stanfurd’s team is continuing to suck, and is renovating their stadium to make it smaller. How sad.
The bad news:
- When Cal gets more popular, the tickets get more expensive. 10 bucks at Stanford, 17 at Berkeley per game.
P.S. Does anyone know what happened with the plans to put in lighting so that we could have more games broadcast on tv?

i just feel the need to point out that andy needs to turn his mullet into flock of seagulls hair and then, and only then, will i be able to take him seriously.

The lights at the stadium got killed when the neighbors that were against the installation were able to show that Cal way doctoring the graphics of what the lights would look like to way underestimate the size and height of the lights. Once Cal’s cred was exposed, the U stopped asking for the lights.
