2005 Cal Football Season preview
It’s about a month away from the first game of the season and Fox sports has a preview of the 2005 season.
But can the team find the same magic it had last year? Mostly thanks to Rodgers, there was a swagger that carried the Bears through its huge season. That might be lost a bit after the Texas Tech loss and with so many newcomers to key spots. There’s also the school of thought that they didn’t really beat anyone last year with the only true win of note coming against Arizona State, and now they’ll likely have inflated numbers yet again against another soft slate. Will everyone buy into the hype again? Yup, but the team really is that good. It’ll be even better in 2006.

Go Bears!

Not about Cal football at all, but perhaps Berkeley media will pick it up: Cal grad and Sunnyvale native Steven Vincent, a freelance journalist and author, was kidnapped and killed in Iraq.
From the NY Times: native of Sunnyvale, Calif., and a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley, Mr. Vincent worked at odd jobs, including driving a taxi, before becoming a journalist covering the art world, friends said. His articles have appeared in The Wall Street Journal, The Christian Science Monitor, National Review Online and art publications. He and his wife lived on East 11th Street in Manhattan.

We’re Number… Something
It’s hard to believe it’s less than three weeks before Cal begins its spirited 2005 season with a bone-crushing matchup…
