Daily Cal Editorial Board Lands an Indy Nosebone
You know it’s summer when the Daily Cal Op-Eds are about skateboarding policy. While generally I give the op-eds a lot of leeway, I’m going to have to question this one. I have to imagine the conference room discussion had to go something like this:
Editor-in-chief: We need to have something for our second editorial.
Opinion Editor: We’ve already asked all our usual guest writers to submit something this summer, so that’s no longer an option.
Random Staffer: We could write about the moratorium… again…
Random Staffer 2: Or, we could write about the impending recess nomination of John Bolton.
Editor-in-chief: No, not topical or fresh enough. Anything else?
Opinion Editor: … um, how about skateboarding and skateboard park policy? There is a small debate about it right now in Berkeley.
Editor-in-chief: Does anyone know anything about that?
Random Staffer: I used to skateboard in middle school!
Random Staffer 2: I’m a hemophiliac, but I finger-boarded for a while.
Editor-in-chief: That’s gold! Get to work, deadline is in an hour…

and Squelch strikes again, thank you Ben.

Dearest Ben,
You really should learn the difference between an op-ed and an editorial. It’s confusing to read this post otherwise.

What’s funnier, the waste of print that was the piece or the fact that Ben had to waste his time on a silly Daily Cal piece.
If you ignore it, it will go away!
