Professor John Yoo recommends creating a fake terrorist organization

In a commentary in the LA Times, conservative law professor John Yoo (who as you recall, helped draft the Yoo/Delahunty/Philbin Memos to the White House on the Geneva Convention that defined torture for the administration) describes the entity as Al Qaeda as a network that can only be countered by an offensive course of action for the war on terror. One possible way he proposes to do this, though, is with a fake terrorist organization.

Another tool would have our intelligence agencies create a false terrorist organization. It could have its own websites, recruitment centers, training camps and fundraising operations. It could launch fake terrorist operations and claim credit for real terrorist strikes, helping to sow confusion within Al Qaeda’s ranks, causing operatives to doubt others’ identities and to question the validity of communications.

Just what we needed, more deception from the government.
